Thing 15: Web 2.0, Library 2.0

I see the library as an invaluable social/community institution. How does it fit in when there are virtual communities being created connecting people who are on the other side of the world? The library profession has a responsibility to not only enable and encourage these connections, but devise new ways of maximizing them to help promote social & economic growth. The library is a forum for sharing ideas. The institution presents opportunities to discuss differences, to learn and present ideas for change. Library 2.0? Access, information sharing, community building, social change, economic empowerment. THAT is what it means to me.
